Pair of German Bentwood and Woven Cord Armchairs, Attributed to Erich Dieckmann
A pair of German mid-century armchairs attributed to Bauhaus designer Erich Dieckmann, with warm, honey-coloured beechwood frames and tightly woven natural cord seats and backs. The steam-bent armrests form a continuous curve into the front legs, contrasting with the straight stretchers and gently angled backrests. The broad, basket-like weave creates a distinctive geometric pattern, combining traditional materials with the restrained construction associated with early German modernist furniture.
Both chairs are in good vintage condition, with the woven seats and backs particularly well preserved. The beechwood frames retain their original warm finish, with some gentle rubbing, small knocks and surface wear to the varnish consistent with age and use.
Sold as a pair.
H (to Seat) 37cm, H (to back) 71cm, W 56cm, D 63cm
