A sculptural French stool or chair dating from the mid-20th century, handmade from a substantial single piece of olive wood. The timber has been carved into a broad, saddle-shaped seat and is set upon four simple splayed stick legs.

The wood's natural form has been embraced, giving the piece a wonderfully primitive, Brutalist quality.   A unique piece of French vernacular furniture that combines simple, traditional craftsmanship with a strong sculptural presence.
