These Terms and Conditions of Sale (“Terms & Conditions”) (together with any other policies or documents referred to in them) apply to your use of our website (“Website”) and to the purchase of the products (“Products”) listed on our website. By accessing this Website and/or placing an order you agree to be bound by the conditions set out below.  If you have any questions on these Terms & Conditions please contact our customer services team by email or telephone before placing an order.

1. ABOUT US is operated by The Mint in Rye Limited trading as SOAP & SALVATION, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 12795013.  Our registered office is at 18 - 20, Rope Walk, Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7NA, United Kingdom.

2.1 By placing an order through our Website, you warrant that you are legally capable of entering into binding contracts and that you agree to be bound unconditionally by these Terms & Conditions.
2.2 To place an order, you have the option to open an account with a username and password and provide personal information on the order form. This will include: title, surname, first name, email address, telephone number, delivery and billing address.  You agree to provide personal information that is true, accurate, current and complete in all respects when you register as a customer.
2.3 You agree not to impersonate any other person or entity.  You also agree not to use a false name or a name that you are not authorised to use.
2.4 After placing an order, you will receive an e-mail from us acknowledging receipt of your order. Please note that this email is an acknowledgment and does not mean that your order has been accepted. Your order constitutes an offer to buy a Product on these Terms & Conditions. All orders are subject to acceptance by us and we will confirm such acceptance by sending you an e-mail informing you that the Product has been dispatched once we have received payment (“Dispatch Confirmation”). The contract between us (“Contract”) will only be formed when we send you the Dispatch Confirmation.  We reserve the right to dispatch multiple orders separately.
2.5 Non-acceptance of your order may be due to any one or more of the following non-exhaustive reasons:
i. the product you ordered is out of stock;
ii. our inability to obtain authorisation for your payment;
iii. we have identified a pricing or product description error;
iv. a system or procurement failure; and
v. failed customer validation checks.

2.6 By law we cannot sell knives to anyone under the age of 18. Proof of identity may be requested when ordering these products. By placing an order for these products, you are confirming that you are of legal age and that the information you provide is truthful and correct. It is an offence to attempt to buy restricted products if under age or to purchase one for someone else who is under age.

3.1 Product prices are denominated in GBP (£), include VAT but exclude delivery charges. We take all reasonable care to ensure that all product description and prices are accurate and we will normally verify prices as part of our dispatch procedures.  If a pricing error is found in your order, we will contact you as soon as possible and offer you the option of reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling your order. If you choose to cancel your order, we will refund you for any sum that has been paid by you or debited from your debit/credit card. If we are unable to contact you, we will treat the order as cancelled.
3.2 For sales to UK and EU resident persons, a VAT receipt will be issued.
3.3 You will be notified of the delivery charges before you pay for your order.
3.4 Payment for all Products must be by credit or debit card. We accept payment with Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, Maestro and American Express. All orders placed are charged for immediately at the time of ordering. We cannot accept cash or cash deposits into our bank account. 3.5 All credit/debit cardholders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by the card issuer. If your card issuer refuses to authorise payment, your order will be cancelled and we will not be liable for any delay or non-delivery. We are not obliged to inform you of the reason for the refusal. We are not responsible for your card issuer or bank charging you as a result of us processing your credit/debit card payment in accordance with your order.
3.6 If you choose to pay for an item using a payment card with a foreign currency denominated account, the amount will still be taken in GBP at the conversion rate applied by the relevant payment scheme at the time of processing your order.
3.7 Unless we are fraudulent or negligent we will not be liable to you for any losses caused as a result of unauthorised access to the personal and transactional information you provide us when placing an order.

4.1 All parcels will be delivered by registered post or courier and will require a signature on delivery. We shall be under no liability for any delay or failure to deliver the products within estimated timescales.
4.2 The Products will be your responsibility from the time of delivery. Therefore, if the packaging is damaged at the time of delivery, please check the package in the presence of the carrier in order to verify the condition of the Products. In the event of damage, please make a note on the delivery slip and contact us. Please photograph the damage and retain the packaging.

If, for any reason, you wish to cancel any order you have placed before receiving the Dispatch Confirmation, please contact our Customer Services Team.  We are unable to accept order cancellations after the order has been dispatched. We are unable to accept order cancellations for personalised goods.

6.1 We will refund or exchange any item when you return it to us in a saleable condition within 14 days of the original purchase date. Please return items in their original condition and in their original packaging. We are unable to refund or exchange personalised goods or special orders. Refunds will be made for the purchase amount against the original form of tender excluding cost of shipping.
6.2 None of the above terms in 6.1 affect your statutory rights or your rights under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations.


Should there be any issue with our products within 12 months from the date of purchase, that is not caused by damage or inappropriate usage we will do what we can to repair or replace. This does not affect your statutory rights.

If you order Products from our site for delivery outside the UK, they may be subject to import duties and taxes which are levied when the delivery reaches the specified destination. You will be responsible for payment of any such import duties and taxes. You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations of the country for which the Products are destined. We will not be liable for any breach by you of any such laws.

The Website is controlled and operated in England. You agree to comply with all applicable English laws, statutes and regulations regarding the Website and any transactions conducted on or through our Website, including telephone orders.

10.1 You confirm that we shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification or withdrawal of the Website as we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently modify and withdraw this Website (or any part thereof) and without notice.
10.2 These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement of the parties and supersede any and all preceding and contemporaneous agreements between you and SOAP & SALVATION. Any waiver of any provision of the Terms and Conditions will only be effective if in writing and signed by both parties.
10.3 We reserve the right to change the Terms and Conditions of Sale and your continuation to use the Website (or any part thereof) after such changes shall be deemed as your acceptance of these changes.  It is your responsibility to check the Website regularly for any changes to the Terms and Conditions.
10.4 If any of these Terms and Conditions are invalid or unenforceable, the remainder of these Terms and Conditions shall continue to have full force and effect.
10.5 We will not be responsible to you for any delay or failure to comply with our obligations under these Terms and Conditions if the delay or failure arises from any cause beyond our reasonable control.
10.6 If you breach these Terms and Conditions and we take no action we will still be entitled to use our rights and remedies in other situations where you are in breach.

11.1 All trademarks, copyright and other intellectual property rights in all communications, material and content supplied as part of the Website shall remain our property at all times, as acknowledged and agreed by you.  You agree that no submissions by you to this Website will be or contain libellous or otherwise unlawful, abusive or obscene material or constitute an invasion of privacy.  As such, you are and shall remain solely responsible for the content of any submissions you make to the Website.
11.2 You acknowledge and agree that the content and material contained within this Website is made available for your personal non-commercial use only.   You may only download this for the purpose of using this Website.  Accordingly, we suggest that you do not use the Website to (and agree not to assist or facilitate any third party to) copy, reproduce, transmit, publish, display, distribute, commercially exploit or create derivative works of such material and content. Nothing contained in these Terms and Conditions shall be construed as conferring any licence or right to use any trade mark, design right or copyright of the Website.
11.3 Except in relation to the description and prices of Products available to order from our Website, we do not guarantee and are not responsible for the accuracy of any information provided on the Website.
11.4 This Website and its content including all text, graphics, logos, button icons, images, data compilations and software used in connection with this Website, is our property or that of our suppliers and is protected copyright, trademarks, database rights and other intellectual property rights.
11.5 This Website may include links to third party Websites (“Third Party Sites”) from time to time. You acknowledge and agree that we will not be responsible for the availability of such Third Party Sites and will not be responsible or liable for any content or services available from such Third Party Sites. You should check the privacy statements and Terms & Conditions of use of Third Party Sites accessible from this Website.

SOAP & SALVATION’s objective is to operate as an environmentally and socially responsible company. The company seeks to uphold our social, ethical and environmental principles whilst considering the interests of our directors, customers, employees, those with whom we do business, and society as a whole. We recognize that there may be indirect impacts generated by our activities, in particular through our supply chain. We will use our influence with those with whom we do business directly, in particular our agents and suppliers, to promote the achievement of our social, ethical and environmental principles. We will communicate to suppliers our expectations in this regard. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our customers. SOAP & SALVATION will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “Act”).



Data Protection legislation and the Act is currently going through a period of change. The introduction of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the new British Data Protection Bill, that will replace the Act and is currently passing through Parliament is the basis of this change. This Privacy Notice is therefore intended to comply with the Act and GDPR but may change over time.



This Privacy Notice forms part of Terms & Conditions for being a member or prospective member of SOAP & SALVATION. In legal terms, members are “Data Subjects,” i.e. “you.” However, we may also under this collect personal information regarding your spouse and dependents if appropriate.



SOAP & SALVATION is from a legal perspective classed as the ‘Data Controller’.



SOAP & SALVATION DPO is the Director Barrie McPherson. SOAP & SALVATION DPO fulfils a number of roles, one of which is to be the primary and independent point of contact for data protection matters. The formal mechanism for members to raise concerns regarding the processing of personal data is primarily to email:; or send a letter by registered mail to: 18-22 Rope Walk, Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7NA. at which point the inquiry will be actioned. However, verbal enquiries from customers will treated appropriately by SOAP & SALVATION staff members, although a written follow up may be requested if appropriate.



We collect personal data primarily to run our tutoring and mentoring programmes, as well as ongoing support for customers. We also use it to improve service quality and understand customer needs.

Lawful Basis of Processing Personal Data.

The lawful basis of, processing your personal data are as follows:

  • Consent.

Once you have agreed to this Privacy Notice of our Terms & Conditions, you will be registered for the processing of your personal data, based upon your Consent.

  • Categories of Personal Data Processed.

The information we hold should be accurate and up-to-date. The personal information which we hold will be held securely in accordance with our internal data protection and security policies. The type or categories of personal data we will collect about you includes your:

1) Name.

2) Postal address.

3) Email address.

4) Mobile, and/or landline number.

5) Birth Date (without year)



Your name, birth date and contact details will primarily be used for sending offers, products and events provided by SOAP & SALVATION only.



Personal data will only be transferred outside the EEA or other areas of adequacy determined by the EU, for specific events. If this is required, consent will be explicitly requested from you.



We will never collect sensitive personal data about you without your explicit consent and a clear explanation why it is required.



We will not sell or pass your personal data to any commercial or charitable organisation.



We will retain your personal data as follows:

Information Held Under Consent.

We will hold your information whilst you are a client of Grant Macdonald (Silversmiths) Limited. Following this, we will request your consent to continuing to hold your name and relevant details to support our historical records.

Data Subject’s Rights.

Under the Act and in even more so under the GDPR you have a number of Rights which we have outlined below:

Right of Access.

You are entitled to access your personal data so that you are aware of and can verify the lawfulness of the processing. This is achieved through the mechanism of a Subject Access Request (SAR) and you have the right to obtain:

1) Confirmation that your data is being processed (held)

2) Access to your personal data (a copy) and

3) Other supplementary information that corresponds to the information in this privacy notice.



Under GDPR and from 25 May 2018, this information will be provided without charge; without delay and within one month. If an extension is required or requests are considered manifestly unfounded or excessive, in particular because they are repetitive, SOAP & SALVATION may choose to charge a reasonable fee taking into account the administrative costs of providing the information; or refuse to respond.



To protect your personal data, SOAP & SALVATION will seek to verify your identity before releasing any information, which will normally be in electronic format.



You are entitled to have personal data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete. SOAP & SALVATION will respond within one month of your request. In the unlikely event thatSOAP & SALVATION does not take action to the request for rectification, we will inform you of your rights to complain or seek judicial remedy.



You may request the deletion or removal of personal data where there is no compelling reason for its continued processing. The Right to Erasure does not provide an absolute ‘right to be forgotten’. However, you do have a right to have personal data erased and to prevent processing in specific circumstances:

  • Where the personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purpose for which it was originally collected/processed.

  • When you withdraw consent.

  • When you object to the processing and there is no overriding legitimate interest for continuing the processing.



Under the Act, you have a right to ‘block’ or suppress processing of personal data. The restriction of processing under the GDPR is similar. When processing is restricted, SOAP & SALVATION is permitted to store the personal data, but not further process it. In this event exactly what is held and why will be explained to you.



You may request to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes across different services. This allows you to move, copy or transfer personal data easily from one IT environment to another in a safe and secure way, without hindrance to usability. The Right to

Data Portability only applies:

  1. To personal data you have provided to SOAP & SALVATION.

  2. Where the processing is based on your consent or for the performance of a contract


  3. When processing is carried out by automated means.

In these circumstances SOAP & SALVATION will provide a copy of your data in CSV and/or PDF format free of charge within one month.



SOAP & SALVATION does not employ any automated decision-making or conduct profiling of Data Subjects. However, if you have consented to be held on our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database we may periodically send you marketing information so that you are informed of upcoming events and job opportunities. These will be automated but they do not involve automated decision-making or profiling.
