VICTORIA FOWLE
Ceramicist

Soap and Salvation are delighted to introduce the ceramic artistry of Victoria Fowle to their shop in Rye.
Each of her ceramic lamps begins with a slow, careful process of coil building. Working by hand, she rolls and stacks coils of clay, letting the form take shape gradually. This method allows Vic to build large, organic structures that carry the quiet marks of making. She then refines the surface as it dries, but chooses to leave traces of the hand, honouring the time and effort behind each piece.
After firing, she approaches the surface as a canvas, painting simple black and white designs that move with the form’s curves and textures. Interested in how bold patterns and soft, tactile surfaces can work together, creating a conversation between light, shadow, and shape.
Her work sits somewhere between sculpture and function. These lamps are made to hold both light and a sense of presence — grounded objects that feel tactile, alive, and individual.
