An unusual Italian stool or side table, probably dating to the latter part of the 20th century, formed from a solid section of tree trunk. The simple cylindrical body is finished in a rich, glossy black lacquer, contrasting with the warm, varnished timber top, where the natural growth rings remain clearly visible. A pronounced vertical split runs through the wood, adding to the sculptural character of the piece.

Raised on small square feet, the stool has a restrained, almost primitive form, with the contrast between the natural timber and polished black surface giving it a distinctly modernist quality. Equally suited for use as a stool or occasional side table.

In good vintage condition, with natural splitting in the timber and minor wear consistent with age.
