Abstract Ink Figure in Ink on Paper by Trevor Bell
An original ink-on-paper work by Trevor Bell (1930–2017), signed verso and from the artist’s estate. Undated, the work relates closely to Bell’s output from the latter half of the 1950s, during his formative years in St Ives.
A loose, expressive study of the human figure, painted with broad black ink and confident, gestural marks. The paper has mellowed with age, with tonal variation and marks that sit naturally with the character of the work.
Bell was an important figure within the post-war St Ives art scene, developing a distinctive approach to abstraction informed by landscape, movement and the physical act of painting.
Presented glazed, in a hand-painted and waxed, bevel-edged wooden frame.
H 61.5cm, W 76.5cm
