Geometric Abstract Painting by Simon E. Taib, C1970
A geometric abstract painting on board by Simon E. Taib, dating to the 1970s. The composition is formed from overlapping angular planes and elongated vertical forms, worked in a predominantly earthy palette of olive, moss and sage greens, with passages of ochre, rust and muted terracotta. Rich linear markings define the intersecting shapes, while variations in the application of paint give the surface texture and depth.
Taib exhibited paintings and pastels at the Galerie d'Hallencourt in Autun, Burgundy, in 1977, documented by an original exhibition poster acquired alongside a small collection of his work.
Signed lower right and presented in its original simple wooden frame. In good vintage condition, with a small area of surface loss consistent with age.
H 49cm, W 40.5cm
