Sunlight Melting Form on Giverny, Oil on Board, Signed and Dated
An abstract oil on board by Frederick J. England, signed and dated 1982. Titled 'Sunlight Melting Form on Giverny' on the reverse, the painting references the French village of Giverny, famously associated with Claude Monet. Working with a palette of buttery yellows, ochre and chalky white, with passages of soft green and pale blue, England builds loosely defined forms through layered brushwork and areas of translucent colour. The composition explores the effects of light on landscape, with forms appearing to dissolve into the surrounding colour.
Presented in a hand-painted triple wooden frame.
H 61.5cm, W 85.5cm
