Geometric Abstract Painting by Simon E. Taib, C1970
A geometric abstract painting on board by Simon E. Taib, dating to the 1970s. The composition is formed from interlocking, rectilinear shapes arranged around a central axis, with a strong emphasis on balance and symmetry. Broad, flat areas of colour in mustard yellow, vermilion red, cobalt blue and olive green are offset by soft charcoal and earthy tones, against a warm buttery ground. The softened edges and visible brushwork lend a painterly quality to the otherwise structured composition.
Taib exhibited paintings and pastels at the Galerie d'Hallencourt in Autun, Burgundy, in 1977, documented by an original exhibition poster acquired alongside a small collection of his work.
Signed lower right and presented in its original simple wooden frame.
H 49cm, W 40.5cm
