Geometric Abstract Painting by Simon E. Taib, C1970
A geometric abstract painting on board by Simon E. Taib, dating to the 1970s. The composition is built from intersecting planes and angular forms, with a predominantly blue palette ranging from deep Prussian to cobalt and turquoise, punctuated by areas of vermilion red and ochre yellow. Fine linear markings divide the composition, with layered paintwork adding texture and depth.
Taib held an exhibition of paintings and pastels at the Galerie d'Hallencourt in Autun, Burgundy, in 1977, documented by an original exhibition poster acquired alongside a small collection of his work.
Signed lower right and presented in a simple wooden frame, which is original to the work.
H 49cm, W 40.5cm
