A beautifully spare portrait of a young woman, drawn with long, confident charcoal lines. Bell reduces the figure to its essential forms, giving the work an expressive quality that moves between traditional portraiture and abstraction.

Created during Bell’s formative early years in St Ives, where he became part of the important post-war generation of artists associated with the town.

Presented in a hand-painted and worked triple wooden frame, with a glazed central aperture.
