Near Pair of 19th Century Swedish Hall Chairs
A near pair of 19th-century Swedish hall chairs, traditionally handmade in Swedish pine, with turned legs and stretchers.
Made individually rather than as an exact pair, there are subtle differences in the tone and character of the timber, while the construction and detailing are closely matched.
Particularly appealing in their original unpainted state, the old timber has developed a warm, dry surface and rich natural patina through generations of use. Simple and beautifully made examples of Swedish vernacular furniture.
H (to back) 82cm, H (to seat) 46cm, W 39cm, D 35cm
