A 19th-century Italian glazed ceramic decorative dish on ceramic feet. These handmade dishes, traditionally made in the ceramic making centre of Caltagirone, were used to make Cotognata, a sweet jam made from quince.  The themes of decoration centred on religious icons, fruits, flowers, animals and symbols.   Wonderful as decorative items or 'vide-poche'.
