1960s Italian Rectangular Cane Mirror
An Italian mid-century mirror with a softly rounded rectangular frame, constructed from individual lengths of bent cane secured with fine rattan bindings. The openwork border is formed from a continuous arrangement of circular loops, graduating from smaller rings along the straight edges to larger circles at the corners. The warm honey-coloured cane and carefully repeated geometry are characteristic of Italian furniture design of the 1950s and 1960s, when traditional cane-working techniques were brought into a more modern design language.
In very good vintage condition, with a mellow patina to the cane.
H 70cm, W 53cm
