A large mid century constructivist composition in oil on canvas by Danish artist Allan Schmidt (1923 - 1989) in a bold palette of deep mid blue crossed with oxblood, soft lemon and a blush pink.
Schmidt came to constructivism in the late 1940's having come in to contact with French and Danish Concrete artists. His work used strong diagonal lines appearing to crack against each other and deep saturated colour.
The work is signed and notated verso.
